SIG operates gemmological laboratories in Lucerne, Switzerland and Hong Kong. This policy applies to all personal data collected through www.sig-labs.com and in connection with our Services. For questions, contact us at info@sig-labs.com.

We collect personal data you provide directly, including your name, company, contact details, and gemstone submission information via our Client Registration (sig-labs.com/register) and Submission Receipts. We also collect technical data such as IP addresses, browser information, and usage behaviour through Google Analytics.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide gemmological Services, issue Documents and Reports, manage your account, process payments, and communicate with you about your submissions. We may also use gemstone data, photographs, and visual media gathered during analysis for scientific research and marketing purposes, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
4. Legal Basis (GDPR)
For clients in Switzerland and the EU/EEA, we process your data on the basis of contractual necessity, legitimate interest, and where applicable, your consent. For Hong Kong clients, we comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with third party service providers including shipping companies, payment processors, and IT service providers who assist in delivering our Services. We also share anonymised usage data with Google LLC via Google Analytics. All third parties are required to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable law.
6. Google Analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use our website, including pages visited, time spent, and general location. This data is transmitted to and stored on Google servers, which may be located outside Switzerland or Hong Kong. 7. Gemstone Data and Intellectual Property
All gemmological, geological, and chemical data gathered during analysis, including photographs and visual media, remains the sole property of SIG. SIG may publish this data for scientific or commercial research purposes. Personal identifying information associated with a submission will not be published without consent.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide our Services and comply with legal obligations. Gemmological records are retained indefinitely for scientific and verification purposes. Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months by default.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@sig-labs.com. Swiss and EU residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
